A digital video recording system records images from video cameras on a computer hard drive.  The hard drive is housed in a unit known as a digital video recorder (DVR).  The DVR provides an intuitive interface to allow users to search and retrieve recordings of interest with a minimum of effort and expertise.  Recorded material is all-digital, meaning it will not degrade through time.  With appropriate connections, recordings on a DVR can be accessed from anywhere in the world via a secured network, the internet or direct dial-up.

Digital video solutions can be enhanced with the addition of video analytics to automatically identify unwanted motion or other behaviour in a camera’s field of view.  In addition, digital video can be integrated with access control and intrusion detection to create an advanced yet easy to use platform that operates as one single security platform.
